Visual Merchandising

In this course, I explored the foundational skills and creative strategies behind effective visual merchandising. Each week, I participated in a hands-on lab at the Mississippi State University Barnes & Noble, where I helped conceptualize and execute in-store visual displays. These projects allowed me to gain real-world experience in product placement, signage, storytelling through visuals, and creating engaging layouts that drive customer interest.

In addition to our campus work, I collaborated with the local Starkville boutique Reeds, applying industry‐standard merchandising techniques in a specialty retail environment. This experience strengthened my ability to adapt visual strategies across different retail formats and audiences.

Throughout the semester, I developed essential skills in color theory, fixture planning, product styling, and creating cohesive display themes. This course deepened my understanding of how thoughtful visual presentation enhances brand identity and elevates the customer shopping experience.
